Thousands Set to Take Part in Green Park Reading Half Marathon and Mini Marathon This Sunday
Reading, UK — 22nd March 2026
Excitement is building across Reading as thousands of runners, families, and spectators prepare for the return of the Green Park Reading Half Marathon and Mini Marathon this Sunday. The much-anticipated event promises a vibrant celebration of running, community spirit, and charitable fundraising.
Participants from across the UK and beyond will gather at Green Park to take on the 13.1-mile half marathon route, renowned for its scenic start in beautiful Green Park, before running through the heart of Reading town and finishing at the stadium. The event attracts runners of all abilities, from elite athletes chasing personal bests to first-time participants embracing the challenge.
Alongside the main race, the Mini Marathon will see hundreds of younger runners take part in a fun and inclusive experience designed to inspire the next generation. The shorter route provides children with a safe and supportive environment to enjoy running while soaking up the electric race-day atmosphere.
Race organisers have worked closely with local authorities and partners to ensure a safe, well-organised event for all. Road closures will be in place throughout Sunday morning, and residents are encouraged to plan journeys accordingly while coming out to support runners along the route.
“This event is a highlight of Reading’s sporting calendar,” said Judith Manson, Race Director. “It’s fantastic to see the community come together, whether running, volunteering, or cheering to create such an inspiring and uplifting day.”
The event continues to play a vital role in supporting charitable causes, with many participants running to raise funds for local and national organisations. Spectators are encouraged to show their support and help create the unforgettable atmosphere the Green Park Reading Half Marathon is known for.
Runners can look forward to a unique boost along the course at mile 8, where a high-energy “party zone” will bring an extra dose of excitement to race day. Featuring music, entertainment, and enthusiastic crowd support, this section is designed to lift spirits and keep participants motivated as they progress through the latter stages of the race.
Spectators are encouraged to gather in this area to cheer on runners and soak up the vibrant atmosphere. With upbeat tunes and a festival-like feel, the mile 8 party zone will become a standout feature of the event, giving runners a memorable mid-race lift and creating an unforgettable experience for all involved.
Runners are advised to arrive early, follow all event guidance, and make use of public transport where possible. Weather conditions are expected to be dry and bright, making for ideal running conditions.
Entries for next year’s event will open on Monday, with runners encouraged to secure their place early. Save the date for Sunday 21 March 2027!
