7th January 2019 - 2019 Sage Reading Half Marathon Invites Britain's Best Athletes with Free Entries

Lightning fast runners of Reading – we want you! The Sage Reading Half Marathon returns Sunday 17 March, 2019 and this year, the race organiser is inviting athletes who have broken 70min (men) or 80min (women) in the last two years (Jan 2017-2019) for a half marathon to snap up their free elite entry.

With around 15,000 runners due to lace up, along with a field of seasoned athletes, Reading is home to one of the UK’s fastest and most-loved half marathons. Andy Vernon and Charlotte Purdue are the current champions with race times of 1:03:08 and 1:12:15 respectively. Who will be gearing up to take the top spot in 2019? Ranked as one of the top prize money events in the UK, at least £16,820 will go to UK and Irish athletes with further monetary rewards for fast times of up to £33,000.

The plans for the 2019 race are in full swing and the organisers, Goldline Events, promise a course as impressive as ever. Taking in the highlights of Reading town centre, it’s a world renowned course, boasting huge crowd support, musical entertainment and beautiful University grounds. A momentous finish awaits every runner inside the Madejski Stadium, the home of Reading FC.

Just six weeks prior to the London Marathon, the Sage Reading Half is the ideal event to fill that spring race spot, test your legs and practice that marathon pace ahead of the big 26.2 in April.
