2021 ENTRIES NOW OPEN

PRESS RELEASE: 19 October 2020

Following the disappointing news that despite everyone’s best efforts this year’s event would not be able to go ahead, organisers Goldline Events are delighted to announce that entries for the 39th Reading Half Marathon and Green Park Challenge will open on Monday 19th October 2020.

In a first the 2021 event has two scheduled dates, one at the usual time in the spring on Sunday 11th April 2021 and one later in the year on Sunday 7th November 2021. Runners can enter with confidence knowing that if the event can’t go ahead in April they will automatically be rolled over to 7th November 2021.

The first ever Reading Half Marathon runners took to the streets in 1982 and since, the event has become a firm favourite in the race calendar for thousands across the country. Starting in the beautiful surrounding of Green Park the 13.1 mile course takes in the highlights of the centre of Reading where you will experience fantastic crowd support but also still passes through the beautiful grounds of the University campus. Home to Britain’s finest athletes, first timers and charity fundraisers, the event is proud to cater for all, from youngsters to parents, colleagues to running groups – no matter your age, running ability, this event is for all.  In the past decade alone, over 150,000 runners have laced up, taken to the 13.1 mile course and proudly collected their finishers’ medal, now in the magnificent Madejski Stadium.

Race Director and founder of Goldline Events, Judith Manson has led the team in creating one of the UK’s most loved half marathons: “Understandably the news last month that the 2020 event could not go ahead was very disappointing and upsetting for all involved. The team have worked hard over the past few weeks to open 2021 for entries – we hope this and the fact that we have reduced Early Bird entries this year will bring a glimmer of light to all our runners as we all look forward to delivering an unforgettable event in 2021. We are so proud of all that we have achieved with this event and the impact it has had, not only on the local community but the thousands across the UK – it’s just incredible. We want to send our thanks to all partners, sponsors, volunteers and runners that have made this event what it is.”
