Road Closures & Travel Information

It is your responsibility to get to the race on time. Please plan your journey before you set off and whatever mode of transport you use, allow extra time for delays or congestion. We suggest you aim to arrive in Reading no later than 08:45 for the Half Marathon (7:30am for The Green Park Challenge).

Please note there is a 20 – 30 minutes' walk from the race village to the start line. If you or one of your supporters has any mobility issues and is in need of assistance, then please contact our events team in advance on 0778 813 7117 or email

Road Closures

Road Closures:

Every year we work very closely with Reading Borough Council and other agencies to agree a full traffic management system which will be safe for the runners and cause the minimum amount of disruption to residents and other road users. However, there will be times when some roads will be closed to traffic. This is necessary to host such a large road race and we ask for your patience and cooperation during the short time the race will be passing your area.

We also ask people do not use junction 11 on the M4 to gain access to Reading town centre as this will be affected due to road closures.

FREE Shuttle Buses & Taxis:

There are FREE shuttle buses between Reading Station and the Madejski Stadium from 07:00-14:30, this service is free to everyone. There is also a Taxis service between the station and the Stadium, with taxi pick up points at both locations – fixed price £10.


Travelling by Train:

Please check all train times with National Rail Enquiries – Telephone: 08457 48 49 50

GWR have advised that Swindon Train Station will be closed on the 18th March and there will be replacement buses. Please check their website for updates:


Travelling by Car:

If you are traveling by car then please allow extra time for delays and congestion. If you are participating in the Green Park Challenge we advise that you arrive no later than 07:30am. If you are participating in the Sage Reading Half Marathon we advise you to arrive no later than 08:45am as runners will begin assembling to the start line from 09:00am.


Official Car Parking:

The Official Car Parks are now full.

Other Parking:

There is parking available with NCP at their Reading Garrard Street car park, all day for only £10 if pre-booked by 18 March 2018. Terms and Conditions apply.

There is no parking at the Madejski Stadium (please don't attempt to park here as this will result in traffic congestion).
