Road Closures

Road Closures:

Every year we work very closely with Reading Borough Council and other agencies to agree a full traffic management system which will be safe for the runners and cause the minimum amount of disruption to residents and other road users. However, there will be times when some roads will be closed to traffic. This is necessary to host such a large road race and we ask for your patience and cooperation during the short time the race will be passing your area.

We also ask people do not use junction 11 on the M4 to gain access to Reading town centre as this will be affected due to road closures.

FREE Shuttle Buses & Taxis:

There are FREE shuttle buses between Reading Station and the Madejski Stadium from 07:00-14:30, this service is free to everyone. There is also a Taxis service between the station and the Stadium, with taxi pick up points at both locations – fixed price £10.

Travelling by Train:

Please check all train times with National Rail Enquiries – Telephone: 08457 48 49 50

Please note: There is a scheduled line closure between Basingstoke and Reading on Race Day (17th March 2019) meaning the line will be closed until 15:40. There will be replacement buses from Basingstoke, Bramley and Mortimer to Reading.

Travelling by Car:

If you are traveling by car then please allow extra time for delays and congestion. If you are participating in the Green Park Challenge we advise that you arrive no later than 07:30am. If you are participating in the Sage Reading Half Marathon we advise you to arrive no later than 08:45am as runners will begin assembling to the start line from 09:00am.
